Drafting of the new constitution will be a “more open process” with the involvement of all 225 members of parliament along with public participation with the debate open to the public and broadcast on state television.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says a three year plan will be implemented with the vision to develop the country. The Premier making a special statement at the Temple Trees this morning said measures will be taken to provide land to those displaced following the 30 year conflict.

Megapolis development plan presented to President

The government said the development initiative will eliminate discrepancies reported while developing major cities in the country. The PMD noted, the government will also aim to develop livelihood of the citizens while implementing the programme. The plan will also focus on minimising traffic congestion, solid waste disposal issues and housing issues faced by urban communities.
